On September 31st 2009, good Samaritan Mary Strey called 911 to report a drunk driver she noticed on the streets. Unfortunately she was the drunk driver!

George Clinton and the P funk all stars! My man Rev Shines opened up the night, killing it with a vast assortment of funk cuts, including Portland’s own Pleasure!

P funk got on stage at around 10 and George followed about an hour later. I was really impressed with average age of the whole crew. They were seasoned vets indeed.

What did strike me was how many members there were and only one tour bus (with trailer).

I counted 5 band members, 3 backup singers, 2 characters, George, and support crew of at least 5 folks. How does anyone get paid? Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they performed, but that was a traveling village!

New Year’s Hangover

Okay so we are into the second week of the new year (technically third), how about those resolutions! Is everything coming back down to reality? Most of you have the will power to have genuinely changed or at least hold on for a little longer. Me, no! I want to move forward and in order to do so I must admit defeat. Until next year… that does feel a lot better!new-years-ball

Hollywood Baby!

I forgot all about this clip! I did beats on a record for a local MC (L-Pro) a couple of years ago and we got a movie placement! A lesbian romantic comedy!! The movie is called Red Doors and our song is during the high school dance performance (about 1 min in). The rest of the clip is garbage.

The Washington Bullets

bullets74-87

I thought they changed their name to the Washington Wizards? Yet their man Gilbert Arenas defies all, even time. He has an $111 million contract yet feels the need to take three guns to the Verizon Center. Over a card game? What was the bet, family members? PRP guy (please remember Plaxico)! Didn’t Delonte West have three guns on him as well when he was pulled over on his Bat Bike this summer?  Coincidence or conspiracy?

Happy New Year!

What happens on New Years eve? Family’s have neighborhood parties , friends get together, and kids get to stay up late. But what about to the folks that “go out”. The night starts with high spirits and most are in a celebratory mood. Reminiscing about the good times and how excellent this new year is going to be. Then at about 12:01 a regression begins.

Come 1:30 to 2:30 am a spectacle initiates. Earlier these streets are filled with merry packs of people; 2:30, wow drunk folks and police. What happened to all that talk about a new beginning, what tonight doesn’t count? I guess its similar to when we are born.

-At the beginning, we don’t remember anything, birth etc.
=By about midnight you cant even remember how many drinks you’ve had.

-A 1-3 year old learns to crawl and it most important rooms are the bedroom and bathroom.
=Jan 1 between 11:00 am to noon, time is spent crawling between bedroom and bathroom.

-4-8 the first of sight of speech. Although not for lack of effort, what is said is not very deep and sometimes incomprehensible.
=Noon to 1:00 pm stuff is coming out of your mouth but it is unintelligible, or very basic.

You get the picture… Happy New Year everybody!

Vinyl Cooler Than Mp3s?

So vinyl is the new black? It has become the ultimate hipster accessory, vintage and very noticeable.

"The resurgent vinyl market isn't showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, recent figures released by Nielsen Soundscan indicate that overall U.S. vinyl sales will once again set a benchmark in 2009, with sales up 50% through the first five months of the year."
Los Angeles Times

Vinyl collections are complicated. For true music lovers, a digital library can be more easily stored, moved and accessed than any vinyl collection.

But its not cool! The obtaining process is homogenized, you don’t get to go anywhere to find your music, and there is no borrowing. In some cases, the ease of getting tracks over the internet results in an over load of what you actually want, thus flooding your music library with garbage. What do we do in these crazy times, download our music or get off the couch and go buy it?

(by the way : digital sales rose from 27.52 million last year to 33.2 million albums this year.)

Fun With Vinyl

Speaking of what the cool kids are doing check this out!

This thing actually plays vinyl. There are people around the world who design these crazy contraptions. What’s next? Two little video games on each side of a DJ mixer?

Final Product // ATTIGO TT from Scott Hobbs on Vimeo.

Crazy huh? I am not quite sure what to make of this. I hope it only costs 25 cents to play, but you know its going to be a buck fifty per game.
